Prof. Samir K Srivastava is currently Professor in Operations Management Area at IIM Lucknow. He is also the Chairman of the Research Strategy & Policy Committee. As on date, he has more than two decades of experience in research, teaching, training, consulting and industry with more than 15 years of teaching and research participation in leading Indian business schools.
Prof. Srivastava is a Graduate in Electrical Engineering from Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, an M.B.A. in Finance and a Fellow of IIM, Lucknow. Before joining academics, he has worked for about a decade in various technical and managerial positions in the Aditya Birla Group. He was an internal facilitator for TPM implementation at Indo Gulf Corporation Limited winning the TPM Excellence Award from JIPM¸ Japan in the year 2000.
Prof. Srivastava has designed and taught management courses at both post graduate and doctoral levels. He has conducted on-campus and in-company Management Development Programmes for government and business executives. He has been a member of TPM Club of India, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Technical Advisory Group (TAG), National Agricultural Innovation Project and Sub-committee for Manufacturing Competitiveness, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). He is a life member of Society of Operations Management (India). He has offered consultancy services to big organizations like the World Bank and the Indian Army and has carried out a couple of funded research projects in India and UK. He set up Asia’s first Public Procurement Observatory two years back.
Prof. Srivastava has carried out significant research in the areas of reverse logistics and green supply chains which has been widely recognized throughout the world. He has published many papers in reputed refereed academic journals and co-authored two books. He also writes for popular business magazines. Prof. Srivastava won Best Paper Award at the 16th Society of Operations Management Conference, IIT Delhi in 2012; McGraw Hill Publishing Best Paper Award at the 3rd Global Conference on Business and Economics, Amsterdam in July 2004 and Best Student Paper Award at the7th Society of Operations Management Conference at IIM Indore in 2003. In 2012, he was ranked 5th in the list of the top Indian academics in terms of logistics/SCM research output in a German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) supported research paper titled, “Analysis of the Logistics Research in India” and in 2015 figured among top 5% productive researchers in management schools of India in a white paper by Biresh K. Sahoo, Ramadhar Singh, Bineet Mishra and Krithiga Sankaran titled, “Research Productivity in Management Schools of India: A Directional Benefit-of-Doubt Model Analysis”.
Prof. Srivastava is on editorial boards of a few international journals and has been on advisory committees of many conferences. His work has about three thousand citations in Google Scholar with a g-Index of 52 and more than a thousand citations in Scopus with an H-Index of 6. His biographic profile appears in Marquis Who’s Who 2014 and Marquis Who’s Who 30th Pearl Anniversary Editions.
